Happy Birthday
It’s been birthday week around our place. Saturday was Beth’s birthday. She had a bunch of friends over all day. I chased the boys out at midnight and three of her girlfriends slept over. Yesterday was Matt’s (Beth’s boyfriend) birthday. Matt is a very nice young man and Michel and I both like him. I met his parents last night and they are also very nice. Beth, Matt, and his parents went to a birthday dinner for Matt and his twin brother, Brandon, at Applebee’s. Beth reported back that they had a very nice time.
And today is my birthday. Today I hit the big 49. Only one year away from 50! I have been in a bit of a funk lately, sort of semi-depressed. I guess with all the things going on at our house (Michel being sick, Pop being disabled and staying with us), I just feel overwhelmed. I think I need to take up Yoga or get some exercise.

I think it’s a pre-50 funk, my friend. You’re 6 mos ahead of me, but I’m right there with ya, funk-wise. I believe ‘overwhelmed’ to be an understatement – I am amazed on a regular basis how much you do get done, and still have time to read.
I wish for a lot of things. I wish that you could catch a break, every now and again. I hope that you know that you’re a great Man, a terrific father, and get back some of the support that you so generously provide for literally thousands of people, every day. You have a lot to be proud of.
I wish I could be there to wish you a Happy Birthday in person.

And I think yoga is a WONDERFUL thing. It’s helped me a ton in getting to relax, allowing me to deal with situations, improved my rock climbing, all sorts of stuff. I highly recommend it. It’s just a matter of finding a type of yoga that works for you. (Like, Bikram yoga didn’t work well for me, but Vinyasa and Yin are great).
I’ve written a bit about yoga and climbing on my blog: http://www.wingedsheep.com/blog/tags/yoga/ if you care to flip through it.
Hope you have a great birthday.

Happy Birthday to you.
And yes, I would surely drop by to give you the money for the special shoes Dad needs, and to see if my brother in law needs a break, and to see if my sister could use any help with anything, even if it’s just loading the dishwasher so she can sit for a minute, to see if my niece wanted to do some girly thing together, or if my favorite nephew was interested in the new movie I picked up for him because I know just what he likes. Of course I would do all those things.
