Good Charlotte – The River
Time for the Friday song off my iPod. I asked Beth for some advice but all I got from her was, “I don’t know.” So I checked out a few groups but when I saw that the bass player of this group was Paul Thomas, I knew this would be this week’s song.
Good Charlotte is a rock band from Maryland. The name of the group comes from a children’s book titled “Good Charlotte: The Girls of Good Day Orphanage,” written by Carol Beach York. The members of the band are the identical twin brothers Joel (lead vocals) and Benji Madden (guitars and backing vocals), Billy Martin (guitars and keyboards), Paul Thomas (bass guitar) and Dean Butterworth (percussion). I wonder if Paul Thomas gets called “Thomas Paul” a lot. Two of the band’s members, Benji Madden and Billy Martin are vegetarians and the group has supported PETA’s animal rights campaigns. The group is also active in campaigns to fight AIDS.
Good Charlotte has been very successful with their last three albums reaching the Top 10 in the US charts and two of their albums going platinum. The River was the first single released off their most recent album, Good Morning Revival. The song features M. Shadows and Synyster Gates of the band Avenged Sevenfold.
