Yellowcard – Lights and Sounds
With the holidays I just never got around to putting up the song of the week from my iPod. So I am putting one up today and then we will return to our normal schedule for Friday.
Yellowcard is a popular American punk rock band from Jacksonville, Florida. According to Ryan Key, the lead vocalist, the band is on indefinite hiatus. Some of the band members have moved on to other groups. Yellowcard’s members are Ryan Key (vocals, guitar), Sean Mackin (violin, backing vocals), Ryan Mendez (guitar, backing vocals), Longineu W. Parsons III (drums). The group has had a fair amount of success with all of their albums reaching the top 50 in Billboard’s US Modern Rock chart.
Lights and Sounds, the group’s fifth studio album, was released in January 2006 and reached number 5 on the Billboard 200 album chart and was later certified platinum. However, the album fell far short of the sales of their previous album, Ocean Avenue. The album sounded very different than their previous album and may have alienated some fans. The song “Lights and Sounds” peaked at number 4 on the US Modern Rock chart and is Yellowcard’s most successful song.
Lights and Sounds
Hello you
How was the rest?
You made it through
But never the less
I got you, out on a wire
You be love and I’ll be a liar
Tell it all and fill up the air
But make it loud ‘cause nobody’s there
Nobody’s there
Nobody’s there (yeah)
Stop, turn, take a look around
At all the lights and sounds
Let ‘em bring you in
Slow, burn, let it all fade out
And pull the curtain down
I Wonder where you’ve been
Make it new but stay in the lines
Just let go
But keep it inside
Smile big, for everyone
Even when you know what they’ve done
They gave you the end but not where to start
Not how to build, how to tear it apart
So tell it all and fill up the air
But make it loud ‘cause nobody’s there
Nobody’s there
Stop, turn, take a look around
At all the lights and sounds
Let ‘em bring you in
Slow, burn, let it all fade out
And pull the curtain down
I wonder where you’ve been
I’ve got a way to work this out
I’ve got a way and you know how
I’ve got a way to work this out
I’ve got a way and you know how
I’ve got a way to work this out
I’ve got a waaay…
Stop, turn, take a look around
At all the lights and sounds
Let ‘em bring you in
Slow, burn, let it all fade out
And pull the curtain down
I Wonder where you’ve been
You’ve earned everything you’ve found
And painted faces frown
I’ll say I knew you will….
