Mikey is Sick

Daddies make great beds for children and pets
Mikey has been sick since Sunday night. He has been running fevers, had trouble sleeping, and has had a runny nose with cough. Monday we were snowed in so we finally got him to the doctor on Tuesday. The diagnosis was strep. So we started antibiotics and hoped that would be the end of it. But Wednesday he had a petechial rash all over so it was back to the doctor. He said to keep him on the antibiotics and ordered a blood test to make sure it wasn’t a problem with his platelets. That came back OK and the rash went away on its own.
But that wasn’t the worst. The worst is that Mikey hasn’t been sleeping and when Mikey doesn’t sleep he makes sure that no one else sleeps. He wakes up and comes in and wakes me up. He drags me to his bed and makes me lie down with him but then wakes me up every 30 minutes if I happen to fall asleep. So I haven’t had a good nights sleep since Saturday night. Thankfully, the office has free coffee so I have been running on caffeine all week. But he seems to be better tonight. He hasn’t had a fever all day and he fell asleep on his own and has been asleep for a couple of hours. If he sleeps though the night I will be very happy and so will Michel.

Feel better, Bud(s)!
I sure get the ‘when Mikey doesn’t sleep, no one sleeps’ bit.

He woke up around 2:30 AM but went right back to sleep. Other than that he slept through the night! He did get up at 6:30 AM but that means he slept for 12 hours.
We even sent him to school today because he seemed fine, was fever free for more than 24 hours, has been on antibiotics since Tuesday, and he really wanted to go. When he came downstairs he jumped in the tub, got dressed, and then kept looking out the window for the bus. He definitely missed school.

Renee – don’t worry about downsyn. We know that you give what you can. With all that is going on in your life I’m amazed that you can give us as much of your time as you do.
