New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he would seek re-election next year and is working with the City Council to amend a 15-year-old law limiting elected officials to two terms, as the Wall Street slump imperils the city’s economy. . . .Bloomberg, the billionaire founder and majority owner of Bloomberg News parent Bloomberg LP, ran for mayor in 2001 and 2005 as a Republican, after having been a lifelong Democrat, spending about $158 million on both races combined.

Avast Mateys! It be Talk Like A Pirate Day. So if you ain’t be talkin’ like a pirate ye be walkin’ the plank before ye can say Davey Jone’s locker! It’s also Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, so a Happy New Year to me Jewish pirate friends! 
Since May, Mikey has been losing weight like crazy. The little guy was never heavy but he has lost 17 lbs. (down to 70 lbs) so now he is like a stick figure. We have been going nuts trying to figure out why this is happening. We took him off the Risdperdal which increases appetite towards the end of the Spring, but losing so much weight so quickly didn’t seem right. Blood tests seemed to point to Celiac disease so we are off to a GI specialist. He does a biopsy and reports that Mikey’s stomach looked irritated but, no, it doesn’t look like Celiac even though the intestinal lining does look a little flattened. So what is it, we ask. Not sure… maybe more tests?
Today is Dee Dee Ramone’s birthday. If he hadn’t died of a heroin overdose in 2002, he would be 58 years old. Dee Dee played the bass and was the Ramone who wrote most of the group’s well known songs. Joey did most of the singing because Dee Dee couldn’t play bass and sing at the same time.
