Eminem (real name Marshall Bruce Mathers III) is considered the greatest rapper of all time and according to Rolling Stone magazine one of the 100 Greatest Artists of All-Time. According to Billboard, he has sold over 80 million albums and two of his albums are in the top five albums of the 2000′s. He has had nine number one albums and thirteen number one singles. His music has won eleven Grammy awards and one Oscar.

Eminem was raised by his mother in poverty. His father had abandoned the family when he was two years old. Eminem started rapping when he was 14 years old under the name of M&M. He repeated the ninth grade twice of truancy and dropped out of high school when he was 17. Musically, everything came together in 1999 with the release of the album The Slim Shady LP which sold over 250,000 copies its first week out and went to become 4X platinum. But it was his second album, The Marshall Mathers LP, which broke every record selling almost 2 million copies its first week out becoming the fastest selling hip-hop album and the fastest-selling solo album in US history. Eminem has had problems with alcohol, prescription drugs, and the law although he claims that since 2005 he has sobered up. In addition to a daughter with his former wife Kimberly Scott he also adopted the two daughters of Kimberly Scott’s sister and is the legal guardian of his half-brother.

The song Stan is about an obsessed fan of Slim Shady (Eminem’s alter ego in his music). The first three verses of the song is Stan reading the letters he has written to Slim each becoming more obsessed and more angry as he waits from Slim to respond. The third verse is Stan creating a cassette as he drives his car off a bridge with his girlfriend locked in the trunk of his car. The final verse of the song is Slim writing a letter to Stan not realizing that Stan killed himself until the end. The chorus of the song is taken from the song Thank You by Dido, a British musician. When Stan came out, Thank You immediately jumped up the Billboard chart reaching number three in the US becoming Dido’s first US hit and pushing her album sales to over 21 million worldwide.

Note that the language in the song is explicit.

Stan
[Chorus: Dido]
My tea’s gone cold I’m wondering why I..
got out of bed at all
The morning rain clouds up my window..
and I can’t see at all
And even if I could it’d all be gray,
put your picture on my wall
It reminds me, that it’s not so bad,
it’s not so bad..
[repeat]

[Eminem as 'Stan']
Dear Slim, I wrote but you still ain’t callin
I left my cell, my pager, and my home phone at the bottom
I sent two letters back in autumn, you must not-a got ‘em
There probably was a problem at the post office or something
Sometimes I scribble addresses too sloppy when I jot ‘em
but anyways; fuck it, what’s been up? Man how’s your daughter?
My girlfriend’s pregnant too, I’m about to be a father
If I have a daughter, guess what I’ma call her?
I’m a name her Bonnie
I read about your Uncle Ronnie too I’m sorry
I had a friend kill himself over some bitch who didn’t want him
I know you probably hear this everyday, but I’m your biggest fan
I even got the underground shit that you did with Skam
I got a room full of your posters and your pictures man
I like the shit you did with Rawkus too, that shit was phat
Anyways, I hope you get this man, hit me back,
just to chat, truly yours, your biggest fan
This is Stan

[Chorus: Dido]

[Eminem as 'Stan']
Dear Slim, you still ain’t called or wrote, I hope you have a chance
I ain’t mad – I just think it’s FUCKED UP you don’t answer fans
If you didn’t wanna talk to me outside the concert
you didn’t have to, but you coulda signed an autograph for Matthew
That’s my little brother man, he’s only six years old
We waited in the blistering cold for you,
four hours and you just said, “No.”
That’s pretty shitty man – you’re like his fucking idol
He wants to be just like you man, he likes you more than I do
I ain’t that mad though, I just don’t like being lied to
Remember when we met in Denver – you said if I’d write you
you would write back – see I’m just like you in a way
I never knew my father neither;
he used to always cheat on my mom and beat her
I can relate to what you’re saying in your songs
so when I have a shitty day, I drift away and put ‘em on
cause I don’t really got shit else so that shit helps when I’m depressed
I even got a tattoo with your name across the chest
Sometimes I even cut myself to see how much it bleeds
It’s like adrenaline, the pain is such a sudden rush for me
See everything you say is real, and I respect you ‘cos you tell it
My girlfriend’s jealous cause I talk about you 24/7
But she don’t know you like I know you Slim, no one does
She don’t know what it was like for people like us growin up
You gotta call me man, I’ll be the biggest fan you’ll ever lose
Sincerely yours, Stan — P.S.
We should be together too

[Chorus: Dido]

[Eminem as 'Stan']
Dear Mister-I’m-Too-Good-To-Call-Or-Write-My-Fans,
this’ll be the last package I ever send your ass
It’s been six months and still no word – I don’t deserve it?
I know you got my last two letters;
I wrote the addresses on ‘em perfect
So this is my cassette I’m sending you, I hope you hear it
I’m in the car right now, I’m doing 90 on the freeway
Hey Slim, I drank a fifth of vodka, you dare me to drive?
You know the song by Phil Collins, “In the Air of the Night”
about that guy who coulda saved that other guy from drowning
but didn’t, then Phil saw it all, then at a show he found him?
That’s kinda how this is, you coulda rescued me from drowning
Now it’s too late – I’m on a 1000 downers now, I’m drowsy
and all I wanted was a lousy letter or a call
I hope you know I ripped ALL of your pictures off the wall
I love you Slim, we coulda been together, think about it
You ruined it now, I hope you can’t sleep and you dream about it
And when you dream I hope you can’t sleep and you SCREAM about it
I hope your conscience EATS AT YOU and you can’t BREATHE without me
See Slim; {*screaming*}
Shut up bitch! I’m trying to talk!
Hey Slim, that’s my girlfriend screamin in the trunk
but I didn’t slit her throat, I just tied her up, see I ain’t like you
cause if she suffocates she’ll suffer more, and then she’ll die too
Well, gotta go, I’m almost at the bridge now
Oh shit, I forgot, how am I supposed to send this shit out?

{*sound of crashing and car going into water*}

[Chorus: Dido]

[Eminem as Slim]
Dear Stan, I meant to write you sooner but I just been busy
You said your girlfriend’s pregnant now, how far along is she?
Look, I’m really flattered you would call your daughter that
and here’s an autograph for your brother,
I wrote it on the Starter cap
I’m sorry I didn’t see you at the show, I musta missed you
Don’t think I did that shit intentionally just to diss you
But what’s this shit you said about you like to cut your wrists too?
I say that shit just clowning dog,
c’mon – how fucked up is you?
You got some issues Stan, I think you need some counselling
to help your ass from bouncing off the walls when you get down some
And what’s this shit about us meant to be together?
That type of shit’ll make me not want us to meet each other
I really think you and your girlfriend need each other
or maybe you just need to treat her better
I hope you get to read this letter, I just hope it reaches you in time
before you hurt yourself, I think that you’ll be doin just fine
if you relax a little, I’m glad I inspire you but Stan
why are you so mad? Try to understand, that I do want you as a fan
I just don’t want you to do some crazy shit
I seen this one shit on the news a couple weeks ago that made me sick
Some dude was drunk and drove his car over a bridge
and had his girlfriend in the trunk, and she was pregnant with his kid
and in the car they found a tape, but they didn’t say who it was to
Come to think about, his name was.. it was you
Damn!

Scott has been the only permanent member of the group which has had 50 members during its life. Among the members of the group from its first years other than Scott were Steve Wickham (fiddle), Anthony Thistlethwaite (saxophone), Kevin Wilkinson (drums), Roddy Lorimer (horns), and Karl Wallinger (keyboards). The songs of The Waterboys often contain literary references and are frequently concerned with spirituality. Scott has described the music as “a metaphor for seeing God’s signature in the world.” The group has received much praise from critics but has never received the commercial success that some of its members have had independently. The group broke up in 1993 when Scott took on a solo career but they reformed in 1999 although the only members from the original years still in the group are Scott and Wickham.

The style of group’s music has gone through several changes during their long life with the first three albums being dubbed as “The Big Music” based on the title of a single from their second album. Their music from the second half of the 1980′s tended to have more of a folk sound. Their current sound is back to their rock and roll roots. The third album, This Is The Sea, has been the group’s most successful. It peaked at 37 in the UK charts but Scott refused to lip synch which prevented the group from getting exposure on rock shows such as Top of the Pops. The single Whole of the Moon from that album has been their most popular song on the UK charts although it did not chart in the US. The group has had four other singles reach the Top 20 in the US.

Whole of the Moon
I pictured a rainbow
You held it in your hand
I had flashes
You saw the plan
I wandered out in the world for years
While you just stayed in your room
I saw the crescent
You saw the whole of the moon
The whole of the moon

You were there in the turnstiles
With the wind at your heels
You stretched for the stars
And you know how it feels
To reach too high
Too far
Too soon
You saw the whole of the moon

I was grounded
While you filled the skies
I was dumbfounded by truth
You cut through lies
I saw the rain dirty valley
You saw “Brigadoon”
I saw the crescent
You saw the whole of the moon

I spoke about wings
You just flew
I wondered, I guessed and I tried
You just knew
I sighed
And you swooned
I saw the crescent
You saw the whole of the moon
The whole of the moon
The whole of the moon

The torch in your pocket
And the wind on your heels
You climbed on a ladder
And you know how it feels
To get too high
Too far
Too soon
You saw the whole of the moon
The whole of the moon

Popcorn and cannonballs
All the season’s fears
Trumpets, towers, and tenements
Wide oceans full of tears
Flags, rags, ferryboats
Senators and scars
Every precious dream and vision
Underneath the stars
Yes, you climbed on a ladder
With the wind in your sails
You came like a comet
Blazing your trail
Too high
Too far
Too soon
You saw the whole of the moon

The Smashing Pumpkins is an alternative rock band from Chicago, Illinois. The group was formed by Billy Corgan (vocals, guitar) and James Iha (guitar, backing vocals) in 1988. The members of the band during their biggest years in the 1990′s were, in addition to Corgan and Iha, D’arcy Wretzky (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Jimmy Chamberlin (drums, percussion). Chamberlin was kicked out of the group in 1996 when he and touring keyboardist Jonathan Melvoin overdosed on heroin in a hotel room in New York City. Melvoin died and Chamberlin was arrested for drug possession. The group remained a trio for the rest of the 90′s. Today Corgan is the only original member of the group.

The group had their biggest success with the albums they released during the 1990′s, each of them going at least platinum. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, a double album released in 1995, was the group’s most successful album going 9X platinum in the USA and featuring five singles reaching the top 10 on Billboard’s alternative music list. The album was noted for the Pumpkins heavy use of guitar overdubs which is considered their singular style. “Tonight, Tonight” was the fourth single from the album and besides being a commercial success was critically acclaimed. The video for the song was also critically acclaimed and won several awards. The video was inspired by Georges Méliès’s 1902 silent film “A Trip to the Moon” and was filmed in the style of a turn-of-the-century movie using theater style backdrops and primitive special effects.

Tonight, Tonight
Time is never time at all
You can never ever leave
Without leaving a piece of youth
And our lives are forever changed
We will never be the same
The more you change the less you feel

Believe, believe in me, believe
That life can change, that you’re not stuck in vain
We’re not the same, we’re different tonight
Tonight, so bright
Tonight

And you know you’re never sure
But you’re sure you could be right
If you held yourself up to the light
And the embers never fade in your city by the lake
The place where you were born

Believe, believe in me, believe
In the resolute urgency of now
And if you believe there’s not a chance tonight
Tonight, so bright
Tonight

We’ll crucify the insincere tonight
We’ll make things right, we’ll feel it all tonight
We’ll find a way to offer up the night tonight
The indescribable moments of your life tonight
The impossible is possible tonight
Believe in me as I believe in you, tonight

The group had their best success in Britain in the early 80′s but continue to tour even today in Europe, Japan, and the US. The band has released 16 albums with their most recent being Rockabilly Cats which was released two years ago. However, the groups only song to reach the charts in the US was “Make a Circuit With Me” which was released in 1983.

Make A Circuit With Me
A sweet romance is not for me
I need electricity
If you wanna make me flip
Hit me with a micro chip

[Chorus]
I’ll be a diode, cathode, electrode
Overload, generator, oscillator
Make a circuit with me

Just plug in and go-go-go
I’ll be your human dynamo
Signals in my power cord
Impulse on my circuit board

[Chorus]

I’m an AC/DC man
You can read my circuit diagram
I feed on electric jolts
I need fifty-thousand volts

I really need electricity
If you wanna make me flip
Come on and hit me with a micro chip

The band originally formed under the name of Gamma Ray in 1997. The members of the band are Josh Homme (vocals, guitar), Troy Van Leeuwen (guitar), Michael Shuman (bass), Joey Castillo (drums), and Dean Fertita (keyboards) who joined after the death of Natasha Shneider from cancer. Foo Fighters frontman and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl joined the group in late 2001 and recorded on “Songs for the Deaf”. Grohl left the group at the end 2002 to pursue his own projects. The group’s music has been described as power metal but incorporates a variety of styles.

The group has released five studio albums since 1998 with a new album to be released this year. The group’s most successful album was “Songs for the Deaf” which was released in 2002. That album is certified gold in the US (platinum in the UK and Canada) and has reached over 1 million copies sold. The single “No One Knows” reached number 1 on the Billboard US Modern Rock chart and just missed getting into the Billboard Top 40. The group has had four Grammy nominations for Best Hard Rock Performance including for “No One Knows”.

No One Knows
We get some rules to follow
That and this
These and those
No one knows

We get these pills to swallow
How they stick
In your throat
Taste like gold

Oh, what you do to me
No one knows

And I realize you’re mine
Indeed a fool am I
And I realize you’re mine
Indeed a fool am I

I journey through the desert
Of the mind
With no hope
I follow

I drift along the ocean
Dead lifeboats
in the sun
they come undone

Pleasantly caving in
I come undone

And I realize you’re mine
Indeed a fool am I
And I realize you’re mine
Indeed a fool am I

Heaven smiles above me
What a gift here below
But no one knows

The Gift that you give to me
No one knows

The band’s name was inspired by primal therapy which had become very popular in the 70′s and early 80′s. The group’s music was heavily influenced by “Talking Heads” and Brian Eno. The group’s music was heavily synthesizer based as was common in the music of the New Wave period in the early 80′s. The band has sold more than 22 million albums worldwide.

The groups first album, The Hurting, was very successful in the UK and had three hit singles but did not crack the US market. In 1984, they released Songs From the Big Chair and the pair achieved international success. The album reached triple-platinum in the UK and quintuple-platinum in the U.S. and had two #1 Billboard hits.

The duo broke up in 1991 shortly after the release of their third album. The split was blamed on Orzabal’s costly album production which required extensive touring to pay off debt. The pair reunited in 2000 and have released a studio album and two live albums. They are currently on a tour through Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, and the US.

The song Head Over Heels was the third single from Songs From the Big Chair and reached #3 on the Billboard 100. The video for the song features Orzabal attempting to catch the eye of a very pretty librarian in a very odd library.

Head Over Heels
I wanted to be with you alone
And talk about the weather
But traditions I can trace
Against the child in your face
Won’t escape my attention
You keep your distance with a system of touch
And gentle persuasion
I’m lost in admiration, could I need you this much
Oh, you’re wasting my time,
You’re just, just, just wasting time

Something happens and I’m head over heels
I never find out till I’m head over heels
Something happens that I’m head over heels
Ah, don’t take my heart, don’t break my heart
Don’t, don’t, don’t throw it away

I made a fire and watching it burn (yeah)
Thought of your future
With one foot in the past
Now just how long will it last
No, no, no, have you no ambitions,
Oh (What’s the matter with…)
My mother and my brothers
Used to breathing clean air
(Nothing ever changes when you’re acting your age)
And dreaming I’m a doctor
(Nothing gets done when you feel like a baby)
It’s hard to be man when there’s a gun in your hand.
(Nothing ever changes when you’re acting your age)
Oh, I feel so…

Something happens and I’m head over heels
I never find out till I’m head over heels
Something happens that I’m head over heels
Ah, don’t take my heart, don’t break my heart
Don’t, don’t, don’t throw it away

And this is my four leaf clover
I’m on the line, one open mind,
This is my four leaf clover
In my mind’s eye
One little boy, one little man
Funny how…time flies

Here is this week’s song off my iPod. I only have two songs from this group on my iPod, this one and a song they did for the SpongeBob Movie called, “SpongeBob and Patrick Confront the Psychic Wall of Energy”.

The Flaming Lips are an extremely odd alternative/psychedelic band from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma formed in 1983. The current members of the group are Wayne Coyne (vocals, guitar), Michael Ivins(bass), Steven Drozd(guitar), and Kliph Scurlock(drums). Kliph (pronounced Cliff) is the newest member of the band, having been only 10 years old when the group formed. Kliph’s mother was in the first all-female mariachi band, Mariachi Estrella. She died in 1981 in the Hyatt Regency walkway collapse in Kansas City, where she was performing.

The group is noted for their multi-layered psychedelic sounds with bizarre lyrics and titles. Album titles over the years have included, “Telepathic Surgery”, “In a Priest Driven Ambulance”, “Hit to Death in the Future Head”, “Transmissions from the Satellite Heart” and “Clouds Taste Metallic”. They are acclaimed for their elaborate live shows, which feature costumes, puppets, complex light shows, giant hands, confetti dumped on the audience from giant exploding baloons, and lead singer Wayne Coyne’s man-sized plastic bubble that he uses to go out into the audience. In 2002, Q magazine named The Flaming Lips one of the “50 Bands to See Before You Die”. The group continues to perform and release albums.

In the 27 years the group has been around they have had only one Billboard hit although they have been more successful in Britain and Europe. They have won three Grammy Awards including one in 2003 for the Best Rock Instrumental Performance for their song “Approaching Pavonis Mons by Balloon (Utopia Planitia)”. Last year, the group’s song, “Do You Realize??” was announced as the official rock song of Oklahoma. GOP Reps. Mike Reynolds and Corey Holland attacked the choice because of the group’s “offensive language” and because Michael Ivins wore a hammer and sickle t-shirt to the announcement ceremony. Governor Brad Henry ignored them and signed an executive order saying the Flaming Lips are, “a truly iconic rock n’ roll band” and “proud ambassadors of their home state.”

The single hit song by the Flaming Lips was, “She Don’t Use Jelly” released in 1993. The song became popular after being featured on the MTV show Beavis and Butt-head. The group performed the song on the TV show, Beverly Hills, 90210 at the Peach Pit, the hang out of the main characters. The song is noted for it’s musical breaks and odd lyrics.

She Don’t Use Jelly
I know a girl who thinks of ghosts
She’ll make ya breakfast
She’ll make ya toast
She don’t use butter
She don’t use cheese
She don’t use jelly
Or any of these
She uses vaseline

I know a guy who goes to shows
When he’s at home and he blows his nose
He don’t use tissues or his sleeve
He don’t use napkins or any of these
He uses magazines

I know a girl who reminds me of Cher
She’s always changing
The color of her hair
She don’t use nothing
That ya buy at the store
She likes her hair to be real orange
She uses tangerines

I would have posted the song of the week last week when I should have but Michel ran over my ear buds with her car (and no, I wasn’t wearing them at the time) so I couldn’t listen to my iPod. So here is last week’s song off my iPod.

Eighteen Visions was a metalcore/alternative band from Orange County, California formed in 1995. Metalcore is a fusion genre combining elements of metal, hardcore punk, and emo. The band went through various members over the years but when they broke up in 2007 the band consisted of James Hart (vocals), Ken Floyd (guitar), Keith Barney (guitar), Mick Morris (bass), and Trevor Friedrich (drums). The band released 6 albums over the years and toured extensively with acts such as HIM, Lostprophets, Avenged Sevenfold, and Bullet for My Valentine. In 2007 the group broke up, announcing that the members of the band had been together for 12 years and no longer had the same vision for where the group should be heading.

Released in 2007, Eighteen Visions was the final album by Eighteen Vision and was their only album for Epic Records. The album was slightly different than the metalcore the group had previously produced towards a more alternative sound. However, it sold poorly and received little support from Epic. The album peaked at #74 on the Billboard charts but disappeared from the charts rapidly after the first week. “Tonightless” was the first single from the album and peaked at #38 on the Billboard charts.

Tonightless
We’ll be tonightless

We can’t wait another moment
Our time will come before we know it
With your heart you’ve got to open up this time
I don’t want to be alone tonight

Am I gonna be tonightless again?
All of the loneliness has got to end
I know the years have been so bittersweet
But you don’t have to go so please don’t leave

Our souls are lost without each other
We’ve gotta find time to recover
If you hold me close this heartache will subside
I don’t want to be alone tonight

Am I gonna be tonightless again?
All of the loneliness has got to end
I know the years have been so bittersweet
But you don’t have to go so please don’t leave

We’ll be tonightless
We’ll be tonightless
(You know we will, you know we will)
We’ll be tonightless again baby

The band consists of Brad Arnold (vocals), Matt Roberts (guitars), Todd Harrell (bass), Chris Henderson (guitar), and Greg Upchurch (drums/percussion). The band toured extensively throughout Mississippi and the neighboring states before releasing their first album. While touring in Alabama, the band made up their name when they saw a sign with missing letters that read, “Doors Down.” Since at the time they only had three members, they named the group 3 Doors Down.

The band rose to national fame with their first single, Kryptonite, from their first album in 2000. The band tours extensively, doing as many as 300 shows in a year, and has sold 16 million albums since forming. The band’s most recent album, released in 2008, debuted at number 1 on the Billboard charts. A new album is expected to be released this year.

Kryptonite
I took a walk around the world to
Ease my troubled mind
I left my body laying somewhere
In the sands of time
I watched the world float to the dark
Side of the moon
I feel there is nothing I can do, yeah

I watched the world float to the
Dark side of the moon
After all I knew it had to be something
To do with you
I really don’t mind what happens now and then
As long as you’ll be my friend at the end

If I go crazy then will you still
Call me Superman
If I’m alive and well, will you be
There holding my hand
I’ll keep you by my side with
My superhuman might
Kryptonite

You called me strong, you called me weak
But your secrets I will keep
You took for granted all the times I
Never let you down
You stumbled in and bumped your head, if
Not for me then you would be dead
I picked you up and put you back
On solid ground

If I go crazy then will you still
Call me Superman
If I’m alive and well will you be
There holding my hand
I’ll keep you by my side with my
Superhuman might
Kryptonite

Here is this week’s song off my iPod. This is a song from 1983 that most of you have probably never heard of.

Intaferon was a new-wave duo from England made up of Simon Fellowes and Simon Gillham. They released three singles on Chrysalis Records and then vanished from the face of the Earth. Their song, Get Out of London was featured in the 2001 Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen movie Winning London. They were also played on the TV show, Max Headroom. It was also done as a cover by The Pretenders in “The Wild Thornberrys Movie” (2002).

For those of you who are too young and have no idea what a single is, it is a record that has only two songs on it. It is called a single because you usually buy it just hear one song, the other song usually being a song that you never listen to because it isn’t very good. Unlike a CD, it has two sides and you have to flip it over to hear the other side. Most singles are a little larger than a CD but this record was a 12″ record. The other side had a slightly different version of this same song.

I tried to find out what happened to these two fine young men but my research has led basically nowhere. I have heard some rumors that one of them is a college philosophy professor but that is about all I have heard. Anyway, if you like MGMT I think you will really like Intaferon. If anyone knows what happened to the two Simons, please leave a comment.

Get Out Of London
Hold Tight
Monday morning wake up yawning
Break an egg, bust my head, maybe it’s a warning
Ring on the bell says it’s half past eight
Keys on the TV, hey I’m gonna be late
I’m walking on the pavement skipping all the lines
so the bears don’t eat me send me to the salt mines
Get on the bus but the bus don’t stop
my feet are sitting downstairs my head on the top
I can’t see out the window cuz there ain’t no sun
I think somebody’s tellin me to G-G-G-G-Get out of London

My feets keep movin and i don’t wear any socks
Can’t stop singing, head ting-a-lingin
Left my house, now I hang out in a phone box
Making coffins out of bits of old wood,
Sell ‘em cheap to the council though i know it’s no good to be a traitor,
collaborator, still i’d rather be a snitch than a cocktail waiter
Commit my crime now pay my penalty later
Okay all right i know I’m doin wrong but save it till tomorrow
got to G-G-G-G-G-Get out of London

Last night I lost my purity it started with a kiss,
I settled in to revel in a night of bedded bliss
I had a bee in my bonnet, a tiger in my tank
I was on my maiden voyage but my liner just sank
They call me jack of hearts, some would say a knave
My mother was the queen of tarts my baby was a sex slave
Pa’s selling weapons to the Red Army Faction
I burn myself in public just to get a reaction
Tattoo my face so my race is run
My car is on fire got to G-G-G-G-G-Get out of London

Don’t wear a suit don’t wear a smile,
Don’t wear my spikes out on the golden mile
Keep my hand on my gun, keep my eye on my mines
Keep my heart on the beat when I’m running through the front lines
Chain Gang chasin’ me but I’m quick as a fox
An’ i rock my body to the sound of the box
The louder you scream the faster we go
It’s an ack ack battery a boom-boom-boom
Helter Skelter flattery coming down soon
Pay packet, jug drug, babies buying fun,
Purdie’s on speed I got to G-G-G-G-Get out of London

Run don’t walk keep as straight as a crow,
I’m waiting for my treasure at the Admiral Benbow,
Blues in my pockets, Reds in my bed,
The weights are building bodies and the blacks are pumping lead

A Face in a photo, the beauty is bare tears on her cheek
She’s living in a nightmare turn the page to a brand new leaf,
Resolute swagger loot time to be a thief,
Go to task wear a mask four ponies a ton,
Keep out of Sing Sing got to G-G-G-G-G-Get out of London

Everybody in the land turn into a sugar tooth beg like a puppy dog,
Brains like a hedgehog
Gimme Ten p and I’ll tell you the truth, sell you a wonder drug, elixir of youth
Threw a party for my friends so they wouldn’t be lonely
They wouldn’t let me in said it’s membership only
don’t worry bout me
Cuz I’m doin fine standing on my head
And sitting on a gold mine
Keep taking the nitro three times a day,
Keep out of the cross fire and G-G-G-G-G-Get out of London
